Developer and publisher Majesco has secured a deal with ’party fitness’ specialist Zumba, and will be releasing a number of games based on the exercise program, due in time for Christmas 2010.

The Zumba Fitness method, which fuses Latin dance with invigorating, calorie-burning fitness classes, courts the affection of over 5 million fans across some 75 countries, meaning a large potential audience on which Majesco can build.

“As the biggest trend in fitness right now, Zumba has effectively transformed the way people work out,” said Jesse Sutton, Majesco’s CEO. “This dance-infused fitness party is the perfect complement to motion-based gaming and we’re excited to offer players a totally new, and incredibly fun, means to achieve their personal fitness goals.”

“Who says working out and having fun are mutually exclusive?” asked Alberto Perlman, CEO of Zumba Fitness. “We don’t believe this and neither does Majesco, which is why this union will take ’exergaming’ to the next level.”

Majesco already has experience in the exercise market thanks to its DS and Wii release Jillian Michaels’ Fitness Ultimatum 2010.
