Having already enjoyed great success on PC, PopCap has officially confirmed that Plants vs Zombies is coming to the iPhone. Furthermore, the publisher has confirmed a boxed retail release for North America, where it will cost $19.95 and hit shelves late this year.

The App Store version should be here before the end of the year, too, and will prove a faithful recreation of the accessible yet surprisingly deep tower defence outing, and will include five game modes – Adventure, Mini-Games, Puzzle, Survival and Zen Garden.

“Plants vs Zombies sold more briskly in its first 90 days of online availability than any previous game we’ve published, including Bejeweled 2, Bejeweled Twist, Bookworm Adventures and Peggle Nights,” PopCap’s VP of marketing at PopCap Ben Rotholtz stated.

“In fact, our family-friendly zombie game now accounts for nine of the ten biggest-grossing single sales days in PopCap’s ten-year history, which is quite a feat given that the Bejeweled and Zuma franchises have sold more than 40m units between them.”
