Applications are available for the best of Boston’s independent game developers to showcase their work for free at PAX East.  Those selected for the Boston Indie Showcase (BIS) will exhibit next to the biggest names in gaming at the Boston Convention & Exhibition Center from March 11 – 13, 2011.

BIS recognizes game studios to help promote and encourage the independent development scene.  The event was created to assist those who may be rich in passion and talent, but not necessarily so much in the pocket book.

“Every industry needs its dreamers and risk takers.  People willing to roll the dice in order to bring us innovative new games deserve the spotlight,” said Robert Khoo of Penny Arcade.  “If we want to keep seeing surprising and original content, then as a community we have a responsibility to support them.  The Boston Indie Showcase is one way to show them a little love.”

The application form as well as the official rules and selection info are at http://www.brownpapertickets.com/event/135341.  The deadline for entries is Jan. 15, 2011.

Entries will be judged in regard to fun factor and a great gameplay experience.  There is no set number of winners; the total number of companies selected will be based on how many games blow our minds. Companies must be located within the metro Boston area and have fewer than 15 employees to be eligible.

Winners will be announced Feb. 21, 2011.
