Over the next eleven days iRacing.com’s professional oval and road-racing series – which feature the best field of sim racers in the world – kick off their 2011 seasons with live broadcasts of their races from Daytona International Speedway and Circuit iracing daytona 500 imageSpa-Francorchamps.  And between these two top-of-the-sport events, iRacing is broadcasting – also live – the top split of the Daytona 500 event in the open-to-all World Tour of iRacing series kick-off.

Produced by PSRTV, this evening’s broadcast of the Daytona round of the NASCAR iRacing.com Series World Championship features a field made up of the 40 best oval-track sim racers in the world, and begins with a 10-minute pre-race show at 8:50 pm EST (Feb. 16, 2011 at 01:50 GMT), hosted by Inside Sim Racing’s Darin Gangi and Shaun Cole with an introduction by iRacing.com’s president, Tony Gardner.

“iRacing.com now provides a home for more than 25,000 sim racers, with more than 1,500 scheduled races per week and hundreds more private events hosted by iRacing members,” Gardner said, noting that PSRTV’s coverage, available in high-definition, has high production values that bring the viewer into the heart of the action at the virtual racetrack.  “And while sim racers really enjoy their own racing, they also enjoy watching the very best drivers in the sport competing head to head.  These broadcasts give everyone in the sport, whether they are members of iRacing or not, the opportunity to watch these drivers battle it out.”

The iRacing.com World Championship Series – Road Racing begins next Saturday with a race at Belgium’s Circuit Spa-Francorchamps.  This Saturday, Feb. 19, the day prior to the real-world Daytona 500, iRacers of every stripe and level of experience will be competing in the virtual tribute to The Great American Race.

All three events are being broadcast on iRacing.com’s public site.  (Go to www.iracing.com, click on “Multimedia” and then click on “Live Broadcasts” from the drop-down menu.)

Gardner noted that the race broadcasts feature professional commentary and high production values.  “Ian Busching and his colleagues at PSRTV do a great job of presenting all the action and the drama of every race in both series.  This is great TV and great race coverage,” he said.  Audiences for both series grew throughout the past year and that trend is expected to continue in 2011.
