Riot Games is putting $100,000 up for grabs in its newly announced Season One Championship in League of Legends. League of Legends Championship at Dreamhack

The $100,000 and chance to be crowned the inaugural champions will take place at DreamHack June 18-21; with the Championship on June 20 in Jönköping, Sweden at the Elmia Convention Center

 Eight of the best League of Legends teams from around the world will slug it out in hopes of grabbing top honors and fistfuls of cash.

If you can’t be at DreamHack but want to see the best of the best in League of Legends, they will live stream the matches, interviews and other content from the event. There’s also a contest for two players to go to the show with details not having been fully detailed yet.

“League of Legends is quickly gaining in popularity as a competitive PC gaming experience, and the amount of support we’ve received from the eSports community is inspiring!” said Marc Merrill, president of Riot Games and executive producer of League of Legends. “We wanted to bring the end of Season One directly to our players and fans – the Championship at Dreamhack is going to be the largest, most competitive gathering of players, and will doubtless produce some exhilarating matches. We’re going to make the viewing experience amazing for folks at home, too – over 140,000 viewers streamed the Intel Extreme Masters exhibition match, and we can’t wait to see how many people tune in for the Championship!”
