Develop is reporting that Square Enix has signed on to publish the next True Crime game from United Front Games. united front games true crime game to be reborn at square enix

When Activision pulled the plug earlier this year it was thought that the game that the studio had worked on for years, True Crime: Hong Kong, would never see the light of day.

Apparently, after seeing the success of L.A. Noire, and knowing there is a fan base for True Crime, Square Enix believes in the game enough to offer UFG a publishing deal for it.

The True Crime series is actually owned by Activision, therefore, the game will be renamed but should have all the gameplay that UFG has been working on. As soon as a new name is announced we will get you up to speed on that and any other details.

"When we first saw and got our hands on the game we fell in love with it. It’s one of those games where you don’t want to put the controller down. It’s what we call ’sticky’," said Square Enix London Studios chief Lee Singleton talking with Gamasutra.

Activision stated that it just ’wouldn’t be good enough.’ and hence was axes. Apparently, Square Enix believe Activision to be wrong (and frankly, so do we) and is aiming to prove them wrong. The game’s development will be assisted by the London Studios of Square Enix.
