In the ongoing saga of Valve/Steam vs. EA, it was announced today that what is seen as Battlefield 3`s main competition, Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3, from Activision and Infinity Ward, will be available through Steam and include Steamworks.modern warfare 3 to use steam and steamworks

As many of you know, it’s been announced that Battlefield 3 will be not be available on Steam and will require EA Origin in order to play (even the regular DVD version).

The recent Valve and EA row over contracts and Valve policies saw some EA titles getting pulled from the digital delivery platform and seems it will also prevent BF3 from showing up there.

So what’s the next logical step for Valve?

Valve today confirmed that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 will use the Steamworks suite of services. Pre-purchase reservations are now available.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 is slated for worldwide release on November 8 at retailers across the globe and via Steam. Those who pre-purchase the game will be able to start playing immediately upon its release on Steam. Published by Activision Publishing, Inc., Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 is being developed by Infinity Ward and Sledgehammer Games.

The PC version of the product will be powered with Steamworks for both the digital and tangible versions of the game and, as with all Steamworks titles, offline play will also be supported along with Auto-Updating, Achievements, and more.  Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 will also support dedicated servers on day 1.

Will this be the deciding factor for many? Will it affect sales of one over the other? We will all find out come late October, early November.
