Award-winning soundtrack composer, producer and recording artist Rod Abernethy has crafted the original music score for id Software’s post-apocalyptic world in RAGE, the latest game from the acclaimed designers of such classics as the Wolfenstein, DOOM, and QUAKE series. RAGEAbernethy brought an immersive hybrid approach to scoring the highly anticipated blockbuster, employing traditional acoustic instrumentation and mixing experimental electronic sounds. RAGE is scheduled to release for PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 on October 4th in North America and October 7th in Europe.

RAGE is a groundbreaking first-person shooter set in the not-too-distant future after an asteroid impacts Earth, leaving a ravaged world behind. You emerge into this vast wasteland to discover humanity working to rebuild itself against such forces as raider gangs, mutants, and much more. Rod Abernethy’s genre-bending compositions for RAGE enhance the anarchic and desolate atmosphere of the environments as well as underscoring the intense combat encounters with its hostile, twisted characters. The expansive score features various styles including: western acoustic guitars, dissonant orchestral music, eerie soundscapes and industrial electronic manipulations, all affected with an edge of danger, isolation and fight for survival mode.

Eagerly awaited by the gaming community, RAGE is already being touted as one of the industry’s most innovative first-person shooters, winning numerous awards at E3 2010, including ’Best Overall Game of Show’ from IGN and three ’Best of E3’ Game Critics Awards including ’Best Console Game’.  Featuring intense first-person action, vehicle combat, an expansive world and jaw-dropping graphics powered by id’s revolutionary idTech 5 technology, RAGE promises an experience like no other.
