Deep Black has been on the radar for a long time here at GDN and just when we thought the planets had aligned and the game would get a full release and be great for all gamers, trouble is afoot.deep black set for murky depths of legal hell

Earlier this week Just a Game and Strategy First put out an announcement that they had the rights to distribute Deep Black, developed by developers Biart, in Germany.

However, a source at Biart says that is not the case and Just a Game has no rights to the final game, nor do they have the final game in their possession and it is only "beta code."

Biart Companny, LLC states that they own all rights to the game and are prepared to take the case to court should Just a Game and Strategy First not comply with their requests to cease and desist.

Now this is all just about the PC version of the game as 505 Games have picked up the rights for the consoles. So while the console release may go off without a hitch, it seems there might be a legal battle might be in the works for the PC version.

The Deep Black, is an action-packed third person shooter that was in development since August 2008. The project utilizes all the advantages of the biEngine technology and will be available in Q4 2011 for PC, Microsoft Xbox 360 (XBLA) and Sony Playstation 3 (PSN). Deep Black features extensive gameplay (40 single player missions in 4 different environments) that offers a mix of terrestrial and underwater battles.
