Last August, Mojang announced that Minecraft will be coming to PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, and PS Vita. Since then, however, the company has been reluctant to share any launch date. However, we now have a more specific time frame for the game's release on PS4 and Vita, sort of. The developers of the popular sandbox builder have said that the release for the two platforms is expected sometime during the second or third quarter of this year. This means it could happen any day now or, you know, on September 30. And this is if it does not get pushed back even further. Although such an outcome is not expected, you never know in the gaming world. Just keep your fingers crossed.

The estimated release window for the PS4 and Vita versions of Minecraft were disclosed by Mojang in a recent PlayStation Blog post dedicated to the physical release of the game for the PS3 that will be available on May 16.

Owen Hill of Mojang has disclosed that the Vita version of Minecraft will be closer to the console experience rather than the Pocket Edition for mobile devices. He also said that players will have no problem transferring their PS3 saves to their PS4.

However, it is still unclear whether people who have upgraded to PS4 will have to pay again for the game. Here is what he said: "We’re in the process of finalising cross-buy/upgrade/DLC things. More news soon."

Minecraft was initially released for PS3 last December as a digital download. An Xbox One version is also expected sometime this year, but no specific release date has been announced.
