The last place team from the 2007 season, Dallas Venom, displayed remarkable improvement as the team moved into a clear-cut second place Friday night after defeating San Francisco Optx 25-21. Dallas’ number one draft pick, Justin "Muffinman" Anderson cruised to a first place finish in Forza Motorsport 2 with teammate Kevin "Chaos" Parish just behind him, giving Dallas a 6-1 victory. The match was topped off by Manny "Master" Rodriguez, Venom’s Male Dead or Alive 4 (DOA4) player who remained undefeated after beating San Francisco’s Chris "NinjaCW" Harris 5-2. With Dallas’ 25-21 victory over San Francisco, the team moved to a 5-2 record, just behind the 6-1 New York 3D.

Carolina Core 31, Chicago Chimera 17
In a rematch of one of the greatest rivalries of CGS thus far, 2007 World Final runner-up, Carolina Core got revenge on World Champion Chicago Chimera in a 31-17 victory. The match started off strong for Carolina as Ryan "Offbeat Ninja" Ward defeated the 2007 MVP, Jeremy "BlackMamba" Florence of Chimera 5-3 in Men’s DOA4. Carolina’s Kat "Mystik" Gunn added to Ward’s win with a dominating 5-1 victory over Chicago’s Marjorie "Kasumi Chan" Bartell in Women’s DOA4. Carolina’s victory was secured when the Core’s Counter-Strike: Source squad took down Chimera in an impressive 12-6 win. Carolina’s 31-17 victory over Chicago gave the team a 4-3 overall record, tied for 3rd place with 4-3 San Francisco.
