NCsoft Grosses $78.6 In Total Sales

NCSoft based out of Korea, and well known for their online games, revealed their Second Quarter 2008 earnings. Their  sales totaled $78.6 million and sales rose 7% compared to Second Quarter 2007, while the operating profit fell 25%, pre-tax profit was down 31%  and the net income was short 42%.

Regionally the United States contributed 13% of total sales ($10.4 million), which was the second highest contributing to sales, and the UK added another 6% ($5.1 million).

By game title, total sales in the quarter for Lineage($27.2 million), Lineage II($33.6 million), City of Heroes/City of Villains($5.5 million), Guild Wars($4.9 million) and Richard Garriott’s Tabula Rasa($1.9 million).

According to CFO Jaeho Lee, “In order to maintain our ongoing development cycles and a diverse game portfolio, multiple games are in development currently across all NCsoft studios. We anticipate publishing these new titles within the next two to three years, during which we believe we’ll maintain NCsoft’s status as a leader in the global on-line game market.”

NCsoft states the reason for the increase in sales is the closing of private Lineage servers and the update of Lineage II Gracia Part One. The drop in operating profit is blamed on continued investments, including personnel, in development studios across the NCsoft organization.e market.”
