For the fifth consecutive year, EA Sports is planning a virtual, online World Cup tournament through its FIFA ’09 title, on the PlayStation 3.

The online footy match will offer players around the world the chance to bag some serious cash prizes. The ultimate winner will receive US$20,000 and a car, while second place land US$5000 and third place brings in US$1000.

Due for kick off toward the end of October, fans will have a chance to practice their skills in the recently released demo.
The new football title will include, for the first time, a ten against ten online multiplayer using the new Clubs Clan system that lets players pick from, and organise, groups of friends (just try not to get stuck with the fat kid no one wants on their team!).

Get practicing, footy fans.
