It’s hard to believe that it’s been two years since Microsoft first launched Games for Windows. Halo 2, Gears of War, and BioShock have all been featured on Games for Windows, but their newest announcement may possible be the largest of them all. Today Microsoft announced that Grand Theft Auto IV will be coming to Games for Windows this November in honor of the two year anniversary. The game will feature expanded online matches, will make full use of DirectX 10 graphics, will boast a new interface, and an out of game client with a marketplace and all.

“We’re incredibly proud of the deep, customizable multiplayer experience that Grand Theft Auto IV offers players, “ said Sam Houser, Founder of Rockstar Games. “As we work toward the release of the PC version, Games for Windows – LIVE affords us the opportunity to seamlessly translate the multiplayer console experience for PC gamers. The service is a natural fit for the platform and we strongly believe it will help in building a strong online community around GTA IV PC.”
Microsoft won’t be stopping at Grand Theft Auto IV either. Also coming to Games for Windows is Fallout 3, Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War II, and James Bond: Quantum of Solace will all be coming to the operating system.

With so many big titles coming towards Games for Windows it is easy to get excited about the program and is making Vista look that much more appealing.
