PSP 3000 On Sale In US – Friday For UK

No Comment 22 Views

We’ve been waiting with mildly baited breath for the new PSP hardware update, and the general consensus seem to be one of approval.

The brighter screen was initially intimated (by Sony themselves) to reduce the battery life of the new system by about half an hour, though it later back peddled on that bit of information and promised the same play time as previous models. And, indeed, most early adopters seem to agree that it’s about the same.

The initial release of the PSP 300 comes bundled with Ratchet & Clank: Size Matters, National Treasure 2: Book of Secrets UMD (yawn!), 1GB Memory Stick PRO Duo, PlayStation Network Voucher for Echochrome and weighs in at $199.99. UK gamers will hopefully be seeing the system this Friday, though details on the launch bundle seem a little vague. Amazon is currently showing a FIFA 09 bundle, while Play.com is showing the console on its own - something that’s not coming to the US until November.

Comparatively speaking, the £150 price for the UK works out a lot more expensive than the US $199(currently the equivalent of $269), but Sony’s well known for milking UK gamers so no real surprise there.
So, is it worth the update? Watch this space, and we’ll try to answer that question. If you’ve tested out the PSP 3000, let us know in the comments section below.
