Yesterday, I put up this quick post with some screenshots from Koei's Fatal Inertia.  The game is being developed for the PlayStation 3 and The Xbox 360, but according to this report from 1Up, posted late yesterday, Koei has delayed the PS3 version of the game indefinitely because of delays in development of the game engine.  Fatal Inertia utilizes Epic's Unreal Engine 3.

According to rumors from Electronic Gaming Monthly, "Sony is investing a serious amount of cash to get Epic Games' Unreal Engine 3 technology up to speed on PS3, and this seems solid proof the tech. needs some help."

Koei still plans to release the Xbox 360 version of the game on 11 September 2007.

Sony has already had problems adapting another major engine, the one for EA's Madden NFL 08, for use on its console. According to

"We have confirmed the Xbox 360 versions of Madden NFL 08 (August), All-Pro Football 2K8 (July), and NCAA Football 08 (July) will run at 60 frames per second, whereas the PS3 editions are locked at just 30fps. In the simplest of terms, this means that the 360 versions will run smoother and faster, and you'll have an easier time noticing subtle animations."

Its things like this that could spell disaster for Sony; I hope for their sake, a plan is already in place to remedy the issues.
