Polytron has announced that they are now in posesssion of Fez, which was formally being developed by Kokoromi.

According to Polytron, the rights were transferred for nothing in return, except a dream and a wish. I am not quite sure what that means, but that’s what they are saying. They continue to say they believe they will release the game sometime in 2009.

Fez was the winner of the 2008 IGF Excellence in Visual Arts Award and features 2008 IGF nominated design innovation.

Kokoromi has released a statement "Fez needed a company to handle all the business surrounding its publication, and Kokoromi didnt want to become one just for that. So Polytron took over, while KKRM remains its good old free-form, not for profit self."

Included is a screenhot comparing what it looked like at GDC 2008 and what it looks like now.

Stay tuned as we keep an eye on this game.
