Blitz Games Studios announces the expansion of its innovative internal training division to incorporate its already well-established academic outreach activities. Blitz Academy, which was launched in 2006 to great success, is now the banner under which all the company’s educational activities will be coordinated.

This re-branding is supported by a brand new website ( building on the highly regarded GameON site, which has been offering detailed career advice to would-be game developers for nearly 10 years. The site contains a wealth of information about the industry including job descriptions, portfolio advice and a variety of new downloadable assets such as professional practice briefs and other educational resources.

The company has long been respected for its engagement with the academic community and this latest evolution of the popular advice website enhances that work, as Blitz’s Education Liaison Manager Kim Blake explains: “At Blitz we understand that everyone has to start somewhere and there’s a time when we all need help and advice. Blitz Academy has already established a great reputation for knowledge sharing internally so it made sense for us to bring our external advice and guidance under the same banner.”

Following its extensive collaboration with educators over recent years, it has become clear that there is a need for greater engagement at a practical level and the company is now focussing its efforts on providing schools, colleges and universities with more ground-level support to directly help them and their students.

Blitz also recognises that the current economic climate has only served to reinforce the need for advice and support for academia, as Kim Blake explains: “At a time when many companies are laying off staff, competition for any remaining vacancies has got tougher and tougher so there’s never been a more important time to ensure that graduates are properly prepared for the workplace. Blitz Academy’s driving aim is to do just that.”
