R.I.P. Circuit City

No Comment 49 Views

Yesterday was the last day, a Circuit City store was open. Today, the doors are locked, merchandise gone, and 35,000 employees out of work. All that is left is a note on their website, thanking customers for their patronage.  Once known as the second largest consumer electronics retailer in the nation has been shuttered.

After the company filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in November, and an unsuccessful hunt for a buyer, the company had announced last month that it was closing all the stores, and handed over the liquidation of the assets to an outside firm.

Circuit City opened 60 years ago as a small television store, over the years expanding and at the height of its success, the company had over 700 locations.
