“Rise of the Tomb Raider” is expected to be released for Xbox One and Xbox 360 platforms during the holiday season next year. Moreover, its PS 4 and PS3 editions are also said to be planned for release soon after that. This is definitely good news for those fans of the game who impatiently waited for the sequel of 'Lara Croft'.

This announcement contradicts the expectations of the players, as the title was initially announced to be coming exclusively for Xbox consoles. However, Microsoft Xbox division head Phil Spencer disclosed in an interview with Eurogamer that ”Rise of the Tomb Raider” will be also released for PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4 platforms. He explained that the title will be exclusive for Xbox One and Xbox 360 only for the holiday season in 2015. Then, it will be also released for PS consoles, as the deal is time-bound.

The sequel to the 2013 Tomb Raider reboot of the game franchise is published by Square Enix and developed by Crystal Dynamics. Now, Lara Croft comes again and she has to face new obstacles. She travels around the world, but at one moment she is sent back to the tombs, where she has to use her skills to survive. Moreover, she has to accept her destiny as being the Tomb Raider.

As for any confusion about the upcoming release of the title, Crystal Dynamics commented that this was not intentional. "We certainly didn’t intend to cause any confusion with the announcement," developers explained some time ago. Of course, the creators of the game will only benefit from releasing versions of the game for both Sony's and Microsoft's consoles.

There is nothing else, but to look forward to next year holiday season, when the "Rise of the Tomb Raider" will be launched. For all fans of the movie and the previous games in the series, this release is something that should not be missed.
