The developer of Elite: Dangerous announced that they will most probably ship on various platforms, including PS4.

According to the founder of Frontier Developments David Braben, the Xbox One edition is a timed console exclusive. The news was released just a day after Braben has discussed the project as an Xbox One exclusive.

A fan congratulated Braben for porting the game to Xbox One, and he said:

"Sure. Mac of course, then down the line we will support more, including PS4. The XB1 is a timed exclusive."

No one knows when the Xbox One Elite: Dangerous exclusivity period expires.

On Wednesday Braben was asked why he chose Xbox One for the exclusive, and he answered:

"I think there were lots of factors - it was a hard decision. They're both great platforms."

David Braben also suggested that the previous partnerships of his studio with Microsoft, such as with the Xbox One launch title Zoo Tycoon, offered him even more reasons to co-operate with Microsoft.

"We've had a long relationship with Microsoft," he said.

"The Xbox audience has been very good to us. We've sold quite a few Xbox games with Microsoft. We also had a launch title for Xbox One, so our tools and technology has been battle-hardened on Xbox One already."

In December, Elite: Dangerous was released on PC, and receive a mixed response from the critics. One of the reviews stated: "simply existing in Elite: Dangerous is enough to drive home its incredible scale," but added that "most of space is populated only by stale trading systems and fetch quests."
